TA2BK Bahri Kaçan(SK) was born in Yugoslavia in 1939 and began amateur radio activities in 1956 at the Belgrade YU1BKL club station. He later moved to Istanbul and in 1962 became one of the founders of the Turkish Amateur Radio Society (TRAC). When he came to Turkey, TA5EE he first went on the air with the call sign and later used the TA2BK call sign for many years and DXCC HONOR ROLL level.

From 1969 onward, he was also licensed in Munich with the call sign DJØUJ and with this call sign also reached the DXCC #1 HONOR ROLL ranking. In 1970 and 1971, ZA2RPS he participated in the DXpedition, and later several times 4U1ITU he served as a guest operator at the station.

DJ2PJ Hadi Bey handled Bahri Bey’s QSL management When we discussed the matter with him, he describes his memories of those years as follows;

“I always remember Bahri and his beloved wife with great pleasure. Thanks to our having come together here many times, I had the opportunity to know them closely. Compared to today, amateur radio was a much more powerful means of communication, enabling anyone who wished to meet countless people from different countries. Many of these acquaintances would in time turn into face-to-face meetings, home visits, or gatherings in different places. It truly was a wonderful period. Bahri was one of those valued friendships. One day at the YU1BKL club station , at that time still without the letter “h”, Bari I made a QSO with the operator known as. In time, we began having long and enjoyable conversations over CW. However, one day he told me sadly that he and his family had to move permanently to Ankara and that I would probably never hear from him again. After this conversation, I did not hear from him for a long time. One day, TA5EE a station with the call sign called me and addressed me warmly as “Hadi.” Then he said that he was Bari from YU1BKL (now “Bahri”) himself. This was a great surprise and source of happiness for me; I was very glad to have found him again. TA5EE was not an official license. He asked me to handle the QSL mailings; I gladly accepted this and later continued the same support for his official call sign TA2BK as well. You probably also know that Bahri worked in Germany for a few years. Thanks to this, we had the opportunity to meet face to face frequently. I helped him obtain a German amateur radio license (DJ0UJ) . He later returned to Turkey, to Istanbul, and took charge of the BOSCH representation. Unfortunately, he left us far too early...”
