



TA2DS Selim Canbeken (SK) is one of the pioneering figures of Turkish amateur radio. In the 1960s and 1970s, TA2SC he operated with the TA2SC call sign, formed from the initials of his first and last name.
Selim Canbeken became known especially for his international communication activities during the period when amateur radio was beginning to develop in Turkey. Giving great importance to long-distance communication (DX) work, Canbeken earned the right in 1970 to receive one of the world’s most prestigious amateur radio achievement certificates, DXCC (DX Century Club) certificate. This achievement is obtained as a result of confirming amateur radio contacts made with at least 100 different countries around the world. It is known that Selim Canbeken was among the first Turkish radio amateurs to earn this certificate.
In December 2011, an extensive interview with Selim Bey was conducted by TA1UH Ali Çağlar Bey. In this interview, Selim Canbeken shared his introduction to amateur radio, amateur radio activities in the 1960s and 1970s, his international communication experiences, and the amateur radio culture of that period.
